PRINTS 2012 —

In 2007 I began using the computer as my art medium. My prints reflect my interest in complex shapes, detail, texture, and color. I work in series and develop new series each year. It’s been an exercise of my imagination, and I’ve explored different concepts and styles including narrative, still life, cartoon, realistic, and abstract.

Most prints originate from my photos and are nature related. Sometimes I use a single photo and other times I combine selections from multiple photos. When I select image, I look for one that has depth and can be manipulated. Not all images have this quality. A digital camera is a quirky tool, and a group of photos can have only one with the “it” quality.

In 2021 I began a new series that I continue to explore. I use graphic software and filters to manipulate, enhance, and modify elements within the image to transform it into something new. I don’t start with a preconceived idea when I work with an image; I let it tell me where to go. Once I see what an image offers, I have a path to follow and can control the effect I’m after. I want my prints to reflect the beauty hidden in the natural world.
